Highly qualified specialists of the Institute are in constant search of the most effective active substances and combinations, developing original products and improving their formulations. The Institute employs doctors, candidates of technical, chemical and biological Sciences.
Applied research on the development and creation of new active ingredients and formulations of pesticides, the improvement of existing, and the creation of formulations that increase the efficacy for protection of agricultural crops against pests, diseases and weeds, as well as research on the development and creation of pheromone products for monitoring and control of harmful species of insects, including quarantine.
Finding and creating pheromone preparations of new types of pests of agriculture and forestry:
Study the biology of the pest, charges and the separation of the components of the pheromone of the insect in nature or from a laboratory population;
Identification of pheromones and attractants of new species of pests;
Development of methods for laboratory and field bioassay isolated from insects and synthesized substances;
The study of methods for the synthesis of pheromones and attractants.
The development of application technology of sex pheromone preparations for agriculture and forestry:
The creation of optimal for each pest in an odious form of dispensers with a certain validity period throughout the summer insect without replacing the dispenser in a trap;
Research and select (or create) the design of the trap taking into account the biological characteristics of the pest and methods of use;
Development of methods of application of sex pheromone preparations: study of terms and features of the summer insect, the determination of the necessary number of traps per hectare for monitoring and control, addressing issues about the optimal location of the trap (position, height, etc.)
Laboratory and field studies of the effectiveness of herbicides, insecticides, fungicides. In the laboratory carried out comparative tests of different formulations of drugs with the aim of identifying the most promising, is determined by the degree of phytotoxicity of drugs to protect crops and the estimated per hectare consumption rates in field experiments;
In the laboratory can be conducted screening tests;
The laboratory is functional microbiological laboratory carrying out the work on the isolation of pure cultures of pathogens, and testing disinfectants and seed control;
